The BYC|YOGA26 Hot26 Yoga Teacher Training is unlike other hot yoga teacher training programs. Most hot yoga trainings are about quantity not quality, using a mold to crank out cookie cutter instructors who are lost when they go off-script. BYC|YOGA26’s Hot26 Yoga Teacher Training breaks that mold! You will be supported by a highly trained, certified team of educators who will make sure that you leave with an in-depth, solid foundation in the alignment, anatomy and physiology of the Hot26 series.

In our 230 hour training you will learn to instruct the Hot26 Series; essentials of yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology; and the business of being a yoga teacher. You will receive lots of practical teaching experience. We work closely with each trainee to help define and develop your own voice to instruct a group class. With daily classes throughout the training period, applying what you learn will provide new insight and deepen your own yoga practice.… our goal is to ensure each trainee leave the program confident in their knowledge and ability to teach a 75 or 90 minute Hot26 Yoga class.

This training meets the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance requirements (RYT200).

The BYC|YOGA26 Hot26 Yoga Teacher Training | 230Hr Curriculum includes:

  • Basic human anatomy & physiology
  • Specific alignment, benefits and contraindications of the 26 foundational postures of the Hot26 series
  • Common problematic conditions, and how to correct, assist or modify for them.
  • Subtle anatomy, fascia and the Energy Body
  • The art of teaching yoga and specifically the Hot26 series
  • Essential yoga history & philosophy from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika
  • History of the Ghosh Yoga lineage

The 2017 Training begins on August 25, concludes October 1, 2017 and will require a daily schedule for two weeks from September 9 to September 24.

Tuition is $3,600 by June 30; $3,800 afterward (6 Month Automatic Payment Plan Available starts June 30)

Application Process: Fill out application. Pay $25 application fee (not refundable but applied toward tuition if accepted and paid in full). Once accepted, pay the $500 training deposit (not refundable; applied toward tuition) by June 15 to hold your space. Tuition if paid in full by June 30 is $3,600; $3,800 thereafter. 6 month auto-payment plan available.

Kat Kelley-Chung

Kat Kelley-Chung, Owner/Program Director

Kat is the owner and director of BYC|YOGA26, which opened in 2007 as one of the first Ghosh lineage hot yoga studios in Maryland, and she has been teaching hatha yoga for over 15 years. Kat teaches regularly at BYC|YOGA26, extensively mentors and develops her teachers, and programs regular posture clinics. She developed her own teacher training in 2013, was on staff for Evolation Hot Yoga Teacher Training in 2015 and an ambassador for the One Fire Hot Yoga Festival in 2015 and 2016. Kat is certified in Bikram and Hatha Yoga (Iyengar & Anusara influenced), and continually supports her education with intensive seminars for yoga teachers.

Yoga is a path toward health, healing and well-being. This is the foundation of her belief in this 5000 year old system of asanas and meditation. She says, “It is in the process of seeking the final expression of each posture that we receive the therapeutic benefits for our bodies and mind.”

Elias Gaitan

Elias Gaitan, E-RYT 500 Lead Trainer

Elias Gaitan is a passionate and devoted yoga/meditation practitioner and teacher. He has committed his life to the pursuit of connection, health and well being. He has been practicing yoga/meditation for over 25 years and has studied and trained with a variety of teachers internationally. He has multiple yoga certifications and is a registered E-RYT 500, and YACEP (continued education) trainer with Yoga Alliance.

Elias trains and certifies new yoga teachers and also leads continued education yoga teacher trainings.  When he is not training others internationally, he teaches at studios locally in Northern California. Elias also teaches yoga/meditation workshops, hosts yoga/meditation retreats, mentors yoga teachers and is a yoga studio design consultant.

Jena Blackwood

Jena Blackwood, RYT-200 Trainer

Jena Blackwood originally started practicing yoga to combat sports injuries, and has seen how yoga makes a positive impact on stress and can be used to maximize health potentials. She is a senior instructor and has taught at over 40 studios around the country. She  holds certifications from Bikram Yoga, Yogaworks, and as a Personal Trainer and Functional Movement Specialist. She was the Minnesota Bishnu Ghosh Yoga Cup women’s champ in 2005, and a USA Yoga judge for five years.

She is certified as a personal trainer and functional movement specialist, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Sports Science. She’s currently completing her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Long Island University-Brooklyn.
